Petkova

I have been a resident of Mallorca for 6 years. Mallorca was the first place where I settled down and painted it as my home. Currently I am based in Campos where I can enjoy and get inspired by the east coast. My previous travel painting projects include a lot of Italian cities and rustic Tuscany, I have painted some views from the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium as I have previously lived in Germany, the Netherlands and the U.S. I have also painted my idyllic hometown on the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria. I had an exhibition in Bulgaria last year and one in the Netherlands. I paint and draw since I remember myself and could not imagine my life without making, and exploring art.

Second Wind

PAINTING

acryllic on canvas

50/60

This is a view of the harbour at Cala d'Or catching the sunlight at play in the water among the old fishing boats in the front and the more modern boats in the background. The name of the piece, Second Wind, was also the name of one boat at the port. "Second Wind" is also a term for getting a second boost in energy and pursuing a goal to its end. My idea was of showing the old as being part of and supporting the new, both connected in one story of development and movement (the water).

Home of the Fishermen

PAINTING

acryllic on canvas

50/60 cm

Cala Figuera has always been my favourite spot on the island. I wanted to catch its idyllic serenity and show it as a calm harbour, as home. The two narrow sleeves of the cove offer protection to some original Mallorcan fishing boats (the llauts). They are the main protagonists here by just being. Behind them one can see the reflection of the fishermen's houses in the calm waters.
